easiest way is to remove outer fairing and remove radio. you can access the clamp bolts then. i always roll my bars up on my bikes. my streeglide i had then up as far as they would go and liked them that way. never understood putting high bars on a dresser as you are losing the wind protection for your hands then. that's if you ride the bike when it's cold out. to each there own.
10-12 is still behind the fairing depending on the brand.

Im good with the installation just trying to figure out how much change I need. The bars Im looking at will give 2 up and 2 back.
After spending hours trying to make myself smart on bars, I finally came to the conclusion that I was overthinking it. So, I ordered a set of Yaffee 8" Monkey Bars this morning.
Once I saw this picture, I was sold. Only time will tell if it was the right decision.... once I install them I'll try and come back and post a before/after.

im telling you right now, cancel the order on the yaffe ****. I had such a shitty time wiring mine i would rather have just paid a little more for some easier to wire bars. Theyre hard to even get the wires out of.
Im sure they are nice but almost 4xs the price of what Im looking at...

The wiring is external on my current bars. I'm the second owner, so I don't know if they are factory bars or not, but they just don't work for me.
I hated the way my ultra handled when the bars were rolled back a little. I noticed it by sitting down the vertical section of the bar and compare bar angle to fork angle. Mine were about 5 degrees laid back. It caused me to constantly trying to adjust to ride a straight line. It’s so much better when aligned to the forks.

hd always wired their bars externally. What year is your bike? Internal wiring is just something that doesnt take long but makes a huge difference in final appearance. I cant remember if my 14 had internal wires or not for the hand controls. I know the throttle and heated grips are internal.

2000 Electra Glide, and I agree that hiding the wiring looks better. I might give it a try, I'm probably stubborn enough to figure out how to make it work.

We're about the same height, and I installed the chromeworks 2+2 sweepers on my limited. I have them up as far as I could get them and they feel great.
