Default Heat deflectors

I have a 012 ultra.I was wondering if anyone has removed the heat deflectors from the side of the seat ? I 'm thinking that it was allow the heat from the rear cylinder to escape and not be trapped by the defectors. Has anyone tried this ? I would think more air flow would cool the rear cylinder and actually allow for less heat to radiate
Anyone try this ?

You are over thinking it. Most people do the opposite and add deflectors.

My new 14 King didn't come with them, my thighs were always hot. I installed them and BIG difference! It was huge, the difference. People in Mexico and North Korea don't realize how BIG of a difference it makes. We will see in November when we make Heat Deflectors Great Again!

i just bought a set for my 03 road king because my thighs were hot, the first time i rode with them was a club ride of about 100 miles on an 87 degree day, and my *** was on fire!...almost like it funneled all the heat back under the seat, not sure if im going to keep them or not.

I ordered and installed my Captain Itch leather "crotch cooler" and I love it! Gives the bike a custom look and I think it works better than the plastic heat deflectors that you can buy and install. One of the best purchases and installs I have done on my RGC. Highly recommend!

1. Remove the left side thigh protector.
This will help the air flow very fast past the rear cylinder and out the left side...this is good for the engine, and will reduce the amount of felt hot air on the right side.

With the right side shield still in place, it acts like an air scoop pulling air into the space behind the cylinder...but with the left side removed, that air can now exit easily. With both installed, they are essentially two scoops that push air from both sides to collide and swirl, with no real good place for the air to exit.

It is not symmetrical looking, BUT, you can only see one side at a time, so it is unlikely most will notice you have a thigh protector on one side and not the other.

Doing this will cool the engine overall, so while riding & when coming to a stop you have a cooler engine than you would otherwise. However, if you are at a stop long, or in continuous stop & go, you will feel more heat on the left than the right.

Beat me to it Hbsoldier3 lol Definitely remove the left side. Works much better reducing heat while moving.
