Default Cruise control issue

I have a 96 electra glide with the MM fuel injection system. After months of trouble shooting and adjusting I finally got everything running good. However, the last couple rides the idle will be fine and then all of a sudden bump up a couple hundred at a stop light. I found out that the clamp on the cruise control cable is releasing slightly, causing the throttle to be open ever so slightly. Eventually not touching the hot idle screw. It is adjusted to allow for max slack, but when it budges even a little this happens. As far as I know there is no different cables, but I don't want to lose the cruise control. Has anyone had to modify the cable to get a little extra slack? If so how did you do it? Are there different cables? I got this cruise control module off ebay as the part has long been discontinued and the one originally on the bike was an incorrect part which wasn't working when I bought. Thanks.

Check to make sure the casing of the cable is not pulling out of the threaded adjuster on the end. If you want to make more slack, that is where I would attack it. Make the casing shorter. Dremel or carefully by hand with some dykes or snips. Dontcha just love trying to keep the old stuff going?? Hahahahahah!!!! !
