Just got mine back today. 2005 Ultra with the twin cam 103", Andrews TW54 cams, Big Sucker AC, and V&H True Duals / Ovals. Base line dyno 98/107. (just 50 miles on the dyno for break-in) It comes with all of the latest updates and Screaming Eagle Heads. Had my choice of cams (had to pay extra for them) Dyno Tech said after the 1000 mile break-in i'm looking at maybe another 4 to 5 TQ.

At 158k I would go long block ...because everything is wore out. I would think the cases have stress on them.
Its not like building a motor for a bike with 20k on her.
Or get a S&S, but if it were me...I would stay HD.
What year is your bike?

I did the Reman several years ago on an EVO.
Took about three weeks from order to pick-up.
At that time, you HAD to bring the bike in and the dealer would remove the engine,
ship it off and the factory would send another engine and dealer would install it.

No exceptions.

Around 10,000 miles the Reman engine developed an oil leak which turned into a blown
head gasket around 14,000 miles.
Guess what?
Harley made it good!

It's a 2005 Classic. I still love the bike. For some reason I don't like the 09' and up frame. Did have the heads rebuilt 30K ago but the bottom may be going out. So ....

This bike is far to nice still to abandon. I'm going to have to keep it. Road some Garage Queens to check out but nothing measures up. New bikes a ridiculously priced

I think the long-block programme looks expensive, although I've never used it. On my older Glide the prospect of a bigger S&S engine was too much to bear, which is what I decided on. It is well worth comparing alternatives, including a local rebuild of your own engine, even one by FM or another suitable major tuner - there lies the prospect of a SERIOUS boost in performance!

I hear ya, OP. It's hard to walk away from the "older" touring bikes. I re-did my 2003 RKC at 85K in 2014 due to oil consumption and what ended up also being excessive rod play. I went to an all bore 107. I should have: Just gone 124" (mildly) or traded it in. I eventually bought a 2015 RGS after just a season and a half with the RKC. I still have it, but it's just kind of a headache. Little things just keep going on it. Bikes at around 106K now, but I just don't trust it for multi-day trips.

At that many miles, I'd either do a 95" from the MoCo or trade it in. You won't kick yourself in a year trading it in.
