Hello everybody looking to change out my motor and transmission 03 Road King hello everybody looking to change out my motor and transmission 03 Road King classic I want a bigger motor and transmission what’s everybody recommend for a bigger motor and better transmission and after you change all that out and stay fuel injected or does it have to go carbureted I’d like to get all the inns and outs on changing out a motor and transmission
There are several ways of getting a 'bigger' motor:
modify your current one,
find a bigger genuine Harley motor, which can be had secondhand,
buy a Harley exchange 'long-block' of larger capacity, up to 120",
buy a brand new aftermarket one, such as S&S - 111", 124", or how about a 143"?! That should fix any craving pdq.
There are HDF sponsors such as Fuel Moto and Hillside Cycles who can supply a range of upgrades, so it is well worth contacting either or both. Depending what size you go for there may be other essential upgrades, such as to the clutch and exhaust, new fuel injector, etc.
