During disassembly, slide to tube out of the upper tree, retighten lower tree pinch bolt, loosen fork cap with large crescent wrench, remove fork.
You don't need a vice, a special clamp, a special socket, or an impact.
But, those things do work, if you got em.
I prefer to do the work out away from the bike. It's easy enough to get dings and scratches on the paint. I find it easier to get the job done out in open with the fork tube secured in the vise.
I ended up remounting the fork in the lower tree. I was eventually able to break the cap loose with a lot of persuading. But it all worked out. I appreciate all the input.
