As I drove into work today, an idiot in a cage decided to turn into my lane at an intersection. Not sure why but I just happen to be watching that lane and thank god i was or he would have hit me head on. I hit the brakes and made a hard right turn into a parking lot and he missed my saddlebag by maybe a foot. Stay safe and stay aware.
Wow...a close call, last thing needed trying to get to work. Good heads up riding. Glad to hear you escaped unscathed. I just commented on another thread pertaining to this...you have to assume that people will do ANY stupid thing that's possible....its so easy (especially early in the AM riding to work ) to zone out and not have to do the looking out for these people....glad you were able to today! Hope the ride home is smooth!!
Most people I start looking for are the ones on their phones and you know what I'm pretty sure they have a mobile button so they can talk hands free through the car system.
Glad you're OK but I'm not sure I understand this part. "...not sure why but I just happen to be watching that lane..." When I'm coming up on an intersection I never just happen to be watching. Anybody who is in a position to try and enter that intersection ALWAYS has a major amount of my attention. Crash avoidance on the part of the rider starts at the instant the offender indictes an intenet to move, not when you or they are about to make impact. I'm just sayin'.
If you are not riding and not knowing they are all trying to kill you,-
and at the same time, make it look like a mistake-you are doing it all wrong!
When they make a mistake, it can kill you.
I have said this many times -
Please go to a cafe of sorts, near an intersection-
Sit there and Watch how many so-called riders blow through the intersection NEVER checking anything!
They make me just cringe!
