And problems vary by year...
Pick a year and we can probably help.

Should be relatively trouble free for a lot of miles, the only issue would be the compensator, but it should be good for another 40-50K especially on a stock engine. That's the last year for the FLHT & they're pretty rare, should be a good bike.

I had a 2009 FLHT Electra Glide Standard... At 10,000 miles , the bike your interested in, is not broken in yet !!!! You have the newer frame and the 180 rear tire.. (both a major plus)….
When you hit around the 50,000 mile , you may have compensator cluck, (this is not uncommon with the older compensator)….. Also the starter clutch may start to fail because of compensator clunk...
These are not huge problems,, just par of the course for these year bikes... Hell, even the newer bike can have the same problems.... All other problems people have, like say,, tensioners ,, brake rotors warping ,, etc,, are just mileage things, and happen to all bikes....
I had 85,000 miles on mine when I sold it, and other than the above problems.. Other than normal maintenance , the bike was trouble free.... I was sad to see her go !!!
If you buy the 2009 FLHT with 10,000 miles at the right price, you will have a great bike, that is a blank canvas to make it the way you want it.....
If I can find a pic of my old girl I will post it up for you ….. cheers …..

if you're still in Wakeman you should be getting a good deal.....our riding season is almost over! it is for me anyway since I don't enjoy riding in the cold weather.

I bought a 2009 EG in March... an Ultra Classic. It had 13k miles on it... it now has nearly 24k. I picked it up for $11,500 in the Atlanta, GA area.

For the most part it's been fairly trouble free so far... but a couple things I have had trouble with...
  • A broken wire in the throttle body wire harness. This seems to be a fairly common issue... maybe not all bikes, but many. It took me a bit to find, but basically one of the wires in the harness had broken inside the wire's jacket. After soldering in a length of wire, it's running fine again.
  • I've recently noticed oil under the bike. I'm not certain yet, but it seems to be coming from where the crank case comes together on the bottom side of the engine. I've tried tightening the two bottom bolts a bit (I don't know the torque needed, so, I've not over tighten), but it still leaks a little (not much, just a quarter+ sized spot in the garage over night).
  • I adjusted the clutch (it was slipping a bit)... this is really just regular maintenance though.
The bike is a blast to ride... I ride it everywhere. Hopefully the oil is nothing major... if it is something that requires cracking the case, I'll probably just keep a watch on the level and hope it doesn't get worse before I have it fixed or trade it in/pass it on.

Ride Safely!
John.
