Default Tire Minders

For those of you like me without TPMS, is anybody using these?

There’s a lot of threads on TPMS. Search TPMS. FOBO is highly recommended, and I just had it installed on my Ultra Limited. But, make sure to get metal valve stems.

Second the FOBO, have them on my Buell and Limited and it is so nice to check the pressure without laying on the ground and rolling the bike around to find the valve stem.

And yes... buy the Metal stems, then you can leave the monitor on and top off the tire when more air is needed.

I check my pressure weekly now and my tires are not cupping as fast since I am sure of the pressure, and the FOBO will alarm if the pressure drops an amount you decide when you set up the app.

So the OEM valve stems will not work with FOBO?

They will work, but there is a safety issue with the rubber value stems splitting.

I've had that without adding TPMS! Got marooned in France with a flat tyre one Saturday - finally got moving again on Wednesday......

Use metal stems if thinking of adding anything to a stock rubber stem.

I have the FOBO system. I also was installing new tires at the same time, so I installed the FOBO T stems. They're metal, and also allow you to add air to the tire without having to remove the sensor.

That said, I think they are well worth the money.

The TireMiders look to be quite similar, but the corporate website doesn't have any pricing so don't know how TireMinders compare to FOBO cost wise.

Sorry OP, not trying to hijack the thread but don't want to start another if this can be answered here. I finally got around to putting an aluminum 90 degree valve stem on the rear of my RGS. Any reason the FOBO should not be used with this setup?

If you have a rubber stem then I recommend you remove the 90 deg bend pdq, as that can easily wreck your stem and leave you isolated. Personally I wouldn't use a TPMS cap as well, however if you use a FOBO metal stem your 90 deg bend should be fine.

I have been using the Garmin TPMS via my Zumo 390LM and it's been great.
The stock Dunlop Tubes for my Road King have the metal stems, and yes Garmin says only metal stems.
Small dime batteries last a year. The unit has programmable warnings, read psi on the fly, and even shows a graph of tire psi over time.
All my other vehicles have TPMS, now I would not want to go anywhere without it. Sometimes I find a patch of road that may make my bike ride funny, check the psi via TPMS and just ride on.
