I just bought a street glide last week and the salesman told me that the pin from the factory is the last 4? numbers of your vin.

Hmmm, I must have been misinformed then.

SLAP-SLAP-SLAP!

By the way, I love riding thru Wellsboro. I stay a little outta town at the Coach Stop Inn on rt 6. North Central PA has some killer riding, like rt 44 & 144.
Had I been certain it was a fob battery, I wouldn't have posted this. Glad I found out about over-riding with the PIN. Guess I'm one of those guys who has too much faith in the fob! Yup, great riding around here. Anything west of 15, and north of interstate 80 --- just pick a road, and it's probably a nice ride.

Well, since the PIN is 5 digits and not 4, uuuhhh...no.

Also FOB battery's function poorly in the cold. If I leave mine in the garage when cold here I have issues. If they are in the house or my pocket no problem. FYI

Harley Dealers tend to do that.
If you bought it at Peterson's, Space Coast, Six Bends, or Alligator Alley it should be set to the dealerships zip code.
Verify it. You're likely to need it someday.

BTW, don't rely on some cheap-*** battery tester to confirm your old FOB battery is OK. I ruled out a bad battery when my tester showed "good"; went down a rabbit hole trying to find the cause of repetitive "enter PIN" commands; then tossed the "good" battery and replaced with new - Problem solved.

My 14 SG didn't come with any security system. I had it added on at Rossmeyer's at Destination Daytona.

They used their zip as the pin. I changed it to 1 and the last 4 of my SS#.

The OWNER'S MANUAL can be very informative. New owners with security systems, especially, should read that section. ANYTHING made by man can fail, including the fob or its battery, or the receiver on the bike.
