2016 Limited Ultra. 39 degrees this afternoon. Went out for a short spin. Rode 35 or 40 miles, pulled over to put on heavier gloves, and had nothin' there when I tried to fire it up again ---- except for "Enter PIN" message. Retried the ignition switch a few times. Still nothin'. Got the owner's manual out, and looked around it to enter a PIN, but then the electrical stuff came on, so I fired it up & headed back home. Any ideas what happened? Need a new fob battery? I'll probably go to the dealer to see what's up, but just curious why this all of a sudden? Never had this before. I don't keep the bike at my house, so I haven't made time yet to go try to fire it up with the other fob.
Also, take this little episode as your first warning to actually learn more about how your system operates.
That "enter pin" message means exactly what it implies. For whatever reason your bike did not detect a fob signal when you turned on the ignition switch.
In most cases, the fob battery is getting weak.
When that happens, you can manually enter your PIN to allow you to start the bike.
Do you know what your PIN is?
If not, you probably should take the time and get it sorted out.

Good idea. I'm not familiar with the "PIN stuff" , so it sounds like I oughta get that way! I'll change the fob battery too. Thanks.
I seal my insurance and registration in a plastic sleeve along with a spare fob battery. CR2032 if I remember correctly.
Set up your own code and know how to enter it. My fob has died a couple times.
Surprises me that there is so much faith in the fob.
Had bikes and cars with fobs for umpteen years. Surprises me that people have trouble with changing the battery at suitable intervals! Never been stuck yet.
