The fob on your Ram is not a proximity fob. It only sends a signal when the button is pushed. The fob on your bike communicates when close to the bike without your effort. It's best to just swap em out every year or so.

My bike sits 5-6 feet from my workbench. If I am on the bike and the fob is on the bench I either have to use the Pin or get off and grab the fob. I use the PIN so often in the garage I can do it with my eyes closed. I also carry an extra battery in the saddle bags.

For years every time I push that button I think to myself "still works!"

I am now confident it just died in my pocket.

^^^That^^^ All this talk about what the factory code is or what the dealer set it to is irrelevant if you read the owners manual and follow the instructions to set your own code.

Tried to start my 2015 FLTRXS at 39 degrees. All lights came on like normal and she started. I let the motor run for about 5 minutes and then put on my gear (including heated liner and gloves) to head out for a ride on January 1. I shut off the motor while I put on my gear. The sun was shining and it was going to reach 42 degrees soon. With the FOB in the fairing glove box, I turned the **** to the Ignition/Start position. All turn signals flashed and I get "enter pin" in the odometer window. I'm lazy, so I try to guess the pin as 12345, 11111 and 31313. I get my actual pin info and follow the steps to enter pin. No dice. She just sits there in 4 way flasher mode for about a minute and then goes dark. So, I try the procedure to reset the pin. Turn the ignition off, on then off, on and quickly press the left turn signal switch two times. I get a 1 on the odometer window. Then, like magic the oil, abs and other lights cycle and she's ready to start. I hit the starter and she's running. I enjoy my ride and never power off the motor. I arrive home to my motorcycle shop/garage. I turn off the motor using the ignition switch. I turn the switch to the ignition position and get "enter pin". This time, I'm unable to restart the motor using the enter pin sequence or the reset pin sequence. I plan to replace the battery in both FOBs and retry.

I'm looking for conformation. Is my issue the FOB battery?

I would really like to see the enter pin process work, just once.

How long have you owned your bike and when did you last change the fob batteries? You should have two fobs, so: try the other fob; change batteries in both fobs. It's a new year, so in the future you should easily remember when you last replaced them!

Try the easy stuff first - change fob batteries. If that doesn't work let us know - if it does, also let us know!

I am the original owner. Bought her in September 2015. Tried the 2nd FOB also. I did not put a voltmeter on either FOB battery. I'll try that next and then try the enter pin sequence one more time since 24 hours have passed since my last attempt. I'll get two new batteries on January 3.
Thanks GRBrown.

Keep in mind the second FOB may have the battery in upside down to keep it from discharging. Ask me how I know.......LOL

I didn't know about the Pin either. My 2013 cvo fob never died and so far my 2016 is still working strong. I'll be setting the pin today when i get home from work and buy some fob batteries this week just for good measure. I guess I trust in the fob to much, Same with our cars though. I get near it and it unlocks so I don't think anything about the fob not working.

since you've had the bike since 2015 and (presumably) have never changed the batteries, i would say with confidence, yes, it is your fob batteries. change them both. then when you try the pin change, it should work. it will not work if it does not recognize a fob nearby.
