Default Glide Pro Front Mount

Just finished this mount install in my 2000 Electra - for those of you that have used this mount, what did you torque the center bolt to?

Intructions say 8 ft. lbs. - that seems pretty light to me.....

I followed the instructions and haven't had a problem in the 3 years since installation.

Will do, I hope to get out for a couple hours tomorrow.

My initial impression in the garage is favorable.

Prior to installing this mount, on a cold start the RPM's would slowly climb to around 1600 then slowly drop to about 1100. During these 4 or 5 seconds, I'd swear the fairing was going to violently shake itself off the bike. I guess I should also explain that the reason I decided to try this mount is that my Indy found mine broken while he was installing new tires. He installed a new one that only cost like $20, and riding the bike felt like the 25 cent bed at a Motel 6. When I fired it up after I installed the Glide Pro, I could tell that the difference was significant. The fairing vibrated a bit, not nowhere close to what it was before.

I did the same thing I put a 20 dollar 1 on mine, road around the block and put it up. Felt like the motor was going to come out of the frame. I installed the glide pro and all is great. vibrates about half as much as it use to. before the initial change and 90 % les than the 20 dollar mount. I hand tightened it ran it and then snugged it down. I didn't measure lbs but I did not tighten it very much.

I just returned from a 2 hour ride, and the verdict is in. To say that I'm very impressed would be an understatement, but from what I've read here about this product, everyone is happy with it. RPM's up to 4k, and speeds to 85 mph are smooth as butter. There is that small old school Harley shake at idle, but certainly nothing abnormal.

Here's a little more to the story of my purchase that you may get a chuckle out of. I ordered the mount online from Iron Aces on 10/29/18, and it shipped the same day. On 11/1/18 I received a hand written thank-you card from Lindsey at Iron Aces. As a retired small business owner, I thought this was pretty cool, and is why I like to steer my money toward small business whenever possible. So the package leaves Greensboro NC via USPS on 10/30 and arrives in Las Vegas on 10/31/18. Then for some reason it leaves Las Vegas and disappears until 11/5/18 where it shows up in Los Angeles. It never leaves Los Angeles, but somehow shows up back in Greensboro on 11/8/18. It leaves Greensboro on 11/12/18, and shows up in Los Angeles again today.

While this package is traveling around the country having fun like the Gnome on those travel commercials, I contact Lindsey and let him know what is going on. Without hesitation he ships another one to me on 11/8, and I have it on 11/10. Damn good service in my book!

So thank you very much to Lindsey at Iron Aces, and god bless the USPS!

Did mine a long time ago, but if I recall correctly, the nut on that center bolt is self locking, so how tight it is does not determine if it will fall off or not, just sets the proper snugness for the mount. Very happy with mine. In 92,000+ miles with oil changes by the book, I have NEVER successfully changed an oil filter without getting some oil on the engine mount. The GlidePro seems immune, but I suspect that leads to the early failure of the factory unit.
