Installed my cruise last night in about 4-1/2 hours. Could have done it quicker but I wanted to take some extra time to clean the chrome pieces a little. The installation went exactly as the instructions said. Followed them to the T and everything went smooth. The manual does come in handy for set up instructions.
I will ride tonight and see if everything works OK.
For those of you who were asking whether or not you should try this, I would say to go ahead and do it yourself and save the $300 bucks for some other mod.
I did mine also, not hard at all. The instructions that come with the cruise do not tell how to adjust the lash. You will need the service manual for that. Also be careful of the rolloff switch located on the right side of the neck of your frame. When you loosen the throttle cables the switch can come apart. Just make sure it is back together right when you readjust the throttle cables. The service manual did not mention this and neither did the cruise instructions.
Best accessory HD makes, IMO. I thought the instructions sucked and finding the info I needed in the manual wasn't always straightforward. The worst part was finding the pin assignments for the harness, which isn't in the instructions, nor is it in the Cruise Control section of the manual. I finally found it only rummaging through the electrical section. A simple diagram in the instructions wouldn've been sufficient. I'm surprised no one else has complained about this, or maybe they've simplified this since mine was installed (12/06).
