Default Passing Light problem

2009 Road King Police Edition: Passing lights are on a toggle switch just below the handlebars. Never been a problem, until today. They went off and stayed off. Checked each fuse but they're all good. Wiggled them all in case the connection was bad, and still nothing.

Question: Is there a relay switch for the passing lights on the Road King or should there be a fuse in the fuse box for it? Wondering if the switch itself could have died. Anyone have this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Check the terminals on the back of the switch. Have had them bend and come off

Are you talking about the Pursuit Lights (otherwise known as passing lamps or spot lights) that are one each side of the headlight? Usually, on Police models, they are controlled by the Off/Aux/Pursuit switch on the right hand controls. Power comes from the "Brake Light" fuse to the Pursuit switch to the Pursuit Flasher to the Pursuit Lamps. It sounds like yours has been changed from the factory setup.

Yes, the pursuit lights that normally would be red on the actual police bikes is what I'm taking about. There's still the siren switch on the left handlebar and the pursuit (passing or fog) lights has a toggle switch on the left side, just below the left handlebar. Not sure who installed it, but the bike was actually used by a police department, so it may have been a switch installed by that dept.

On most stock civilian models, the passing lamps only work with the low beam headlight. There is a kit that allows them to work with the high beam. I really don't think that your bike is setup that way but I thought I would mention it just in case.

On the Police model, there should be a "Pursuit" light, either on the Tach or Speedometer, that goes on when you switch the passing lamps on.

Maybe dumb question but do you have your high beam on? If so turn it off and see if your passing lights work.
