Default Pursuit switch woes

I've been trolling the forums for an answer to my question but have yet to find one so here it is. I have a 2003 Road King Police that has, of cource, been civilianized. The problem I have is with the pursuit switch and its control of the passing lights. The switch is three position: off, aux, and pursuit. The lights will come on when the switch is in the "off" position (the pursuit indicator on the spedo is also lit). They will go off when the switch is in the "aux" position (the pursuit indicator on the spedo remains lit) and they will be off in the "pursuit" position (the pursuit indicator also goes out).

I realize that civilianization takes many forms but is this a typical set up of that switch after a wig-wag funcation has been removed? It's a minor issue as the lights function appropriately, but my retentiveness would like for the switch to mimic the function of the lights.

With that, how the heck do you get at that switch to change the wiring?

My '08 FLHTP does not do that. In the off position-nothing. In both the aux and on positions-both the driving lights and the pursuit indicator are on. I was told by the dealer that sold it to me, that all they do is remove the flasher from the circuit and put in clear lamps in place of the red/blue lamps.

If it were me, I'd open the switch housing and look at swapping the leads there. Sorry, that's the only possible solution that pops into my mind.

I know this probably doesn't help, and I can't explain the "why", but on our cop bikes the pursuit lights come on when the switch is off and off when the switch is on. Ours have been wired that way for years.

I think your dealership swapped some wires in the connector inside the light housing. Might have to get a wiring diagram and check out the connector.

My first thought was that the switch itself is just wired backwards....just having trouble seeing how the switch comes out of the housing to swap the wires.

start with the PD bike supplemental manual- for a wiring diagram. then you can think it through and use logic to deduce the fault

depending on who takes the cop stuff off, sometimes it is tidy...sometimes stuff is just cut off and wires are hanging

my guess is that there is a relay miswired....
