True Duals - Why?
I would guess that this has been covered before...What exactly are the advantages of True Duals?
I see that most people indicate a LOSS of torque in the important 1500-3000 RPM range. So what are the benefits of spending an extra $300 or so?
The way I see it: they look better (to me) and t here isn't heat on the right leg. Anything else???

Better release of gases, but ONLY if you upgrade the the engine and have the bike actually dyno tuned instead a basic remap/download.
Most people do it for the 2 reasons you quoted
Looks
Heat Issue
+ Sound
I was gonna go with them, but decided against it and I love the way the SE SLip-ons sound anyways and saved cash for the Stage1

All of the answers above are correct. I put mine on to eliminate the crossover pipe to help with heat. This made a huge difference. I also love the way they look and sound. I did not notice any loss in power and with a good dyno tune with a PCIII and now a Race Tuner I notice an increase in power. The people on the fourm who put them on with a harley download hated them. The harley download is worthless on anything other than an air cleaner upgrade and harley slipons.

I just did the stage one and then the Power commander and have the heat issue. A buddy said to wrap the crossover pipe with some sort of insulation, like pipe insulation. Anyone know if this works?
phxlab,
I've never heard of the heat problem you describe. Of course you are getting much more exhaust going through the left muffler now that you took off the crossover but I do not notice any more hear at all on my Roadglide since I put on the Rinehart true duals. They sell a heat shield that goes on the frame to help with thigh heat. Check them out at eglidegoodies.com

So far I've like the looks and the sound. Haven't had any complaints so far.

I went with V&H True Duels and their Ovals. Could not be happier. Sound is second to none, Quality is second to none, Price is second to none.
On performance I am using a TW-6HG Wood cam and 10.5:1 compression. I may have lost something in low end but I don't notice it. Cams, Heads, and tune will make this minimal on builds that have the cam and head work to support it. Also with a duel throttle body you can tune each cylinder individually.
Yes I will get more out with a 2-1 but it takes the balance out of the look and in MY opinion are FUGLY on a bagger.
Also I don't miss that pipe right under my right thigh.

JUST TO ADD THEY SOUND SO MUCH BETTER.I CAN EASILY HEAR EACH PIPE ARGUING WITH THE OTHER PIPE.I HAVE 06 STREETGLIDE AND PUT VHINES TRUE DUALS WITH A ONE QUARTER INCH RUSH PIPE ON.I GAINED MORE POWER A DEEP LOW GROWL FOR ABOUT 775.00WIH MAPPING,FILTER,INSTILLATION.
