I am starting to look at new exhaust for my 07 Ultra. Currently have Vance and Hines, and I want a deeper/throatier sound. I am leaning towards fishtails to take the bike in a more retro look. I will need to buy the full system, so if you have any recommendations on best bang for the buck set up I am all ears. Anybody running Samson and have any feedback on their sound? Thanks in advance.
PS.. pictures are a plus if you dont mind showing off your bike (i know most of us dont mind showing off haha)
If you're looking for Fish Tail Straight Pipes I can't help … if you're looking for Fish Tail Mufflers I like the retro mufflers from BK Rider … they have a deep sound and at a good price ..
"Traditional" fishtail straight pipes have more of a crackly higher pitched sound IMO. You want large body mufflers for a deeper sound, the Rinehart true duals system with 4" mufflers should give you the sound you want.
I do love the sound of the Rineharts, but I keep going back to the fishtail look. Just curious what setup people like the best for them? And would like to see some pics of fishtails on some baggers.
they arent deep sounding, but boy do they sound good.
I just got rid of mine.....very reluctantly, im just heading in a different direction.
I ran bassani 36" fishtails, I prefer the look of the narrow ones, and paired that to fuel moto cross pipe and fuel moto 2-1-2. Sounded great. I added the cross and 2-1-2 after the fightails....they got a lilttle bit louder and deeper, but nowhere near as deep as the VH 4.5's I had on before that.
Favorite sounding exhaust by far, on decel it was awesome.

I agree with JonnyVegas. V&H High Outputs or V&H Oversize 450s. Get that nice bagger sound. I hate riding behind fishtails! It's bad enough being in front of 'em! IMO, a good way to ruin a bagger. Just MY opinion. They don't sound NEAR as good as they look.
I had the Samson Fish Tails full system on my 2010 Heritage
I did the big bore 103 kit on her with cams and dyno out at 93hp and 113 torque. Boy she would run smoooooth too
Man I loved that sound.
I finanly put a set on my 2013 Road Glide cuz I love the look and sound.
Sorry no pic I could find easy on my labtop. If I run across one I will post it up.
But watch out walking around the backside of the bike. Those tails bite
Well the one I found without my wife washing the bike topless will not load due to being then wrong file extension. Habve to work on that.
Sorry

Fishtails are about 2 things. Looks and sound. If your digging the looks, the choice is easy, but if your wanting a deeper/throatier sound........ Fishtails??? No, fishtails sound like, you know, fishtails. They DO NOT have a deep throaty sound. They have a raspy bark that is unlike ANY muffler. Fishtail "style" mufflers are something different, but true fishtails sound like fishtails. I have run every style fishtail there is, and I am running them now on my King. Samson makes a great product and I was happy as can be with them on my Softail. Great quality and excellent sound. The best sound I have ever had is my current "straight pipe" fishtail extensions with the factory headpipe. The perfect balance of sound, crackle and volume. Listen to as many bikes and youtube sound clips as possible. Then make your choice. Cause no one knows what you want, more than you......
