well one day when you misjudge you will know
and you aren't going to be too happy!
Too true...Six years and 53,000 miles of riding hard on my beloved FLHT when I overdid it on the dragon...eventually you can no longer lean it over before the wheels lift off the ground...just pray if you ever push it that hard you come out as unscathed as I did. Unfortunately my bike wasn't so lucky as it was struck by oncoming motorist after I let go.[:@]
Once the boards start to scrape, you've leaned the big bagger over far enough. The floor board mounts touch down next and that will lever the tires off the ground. That's when you will appreciate the crash bars. They do a great job of protecting the bike during a slow slide.

Been there and done that! [:@]..... and $5500. later all better. Now I ride my scoot like a man my age should and leave the hotdogging to the squids. A year later and cornering still scares me.
I don't drag the floorboards as much as I do accidentaly catch my kickstand on the left side but I must say that I have one of the custom kickstands that looks like an eagles wing and it hangs a little lower than normal. I had a friend that had the eagles talon style and he and his wife went into a sharp turn and the talon caught in the asphalt and off they went.

Yep.... anda titanium plate and seven screws later remind me of that every day. And if you think HD is high on accessories, you should try the orthopedic surgeon!
Pushed it over hard, scraping, and caught some gravel. No room to correct since I was already pushed over. Once you contact frame or brackets, the bike is unforgiving. It happens. Funny to ride the '07 to physical therapy though - LOL. Still get qweezy leaning in the turns though (now 2.5 months later).
