hi
2016 RGS here with a 32T front transmission pulley,68T rear pulley and 140T belt. im planing to change the front pulley from 32t to 30t,shall i change the belt to 139t?or it will be ok to stay on 140t?pls advise
thank you
I have an earlier bike, but when I went from 32T to 30T I couldn't manage with the stock belt. Some members will suggest you remove metal from the wheel axle slot, but I worked out that would require a lot of metal to be removed, so changed to a shorter belt. Our drive belts have a pitch of 5/8" between teeth, so taking two teeth off the pulley equates to moving your wheel rearwards approx 5/8" in the axle slot.
i cant find a 139t belt with 24mm width, could a 139t 1 inch fit in the groove of a 24 mm in the rear pulley.? i know it fits in the front but not sure of the rear pulley
roadflyer, you went the same way with a 30t and didnt changed the belt?
Sorry, no. I still have the stock 32 on the bike and the adjuster is almost all the way out (as tight as it can go).
I would think your bike would be the same with very little adjustment left.
I'm actually going to replace the stock 32 pulley with a 34 to reduce revs a bit on the highway.

1" is 25.4mm, so I don't expect a 1" belt will fit a 24mm pulley. I do wonder however about the use of inch sizes when discussing our bikes. For example we talk of 12" and 13" long shocks, but they are actually metric in length and slightly shorter than those inch sizes. The difference between 24 and 25.4mm does seem too much to put down to approximation! Perhaps Harley dropped inch sizes for belts when they went from 1 inch ones to 24mm ones? Who knows.....

You'll be making a huge mistake going to a 34T pulley. 6th gear won't be usable till around 80mph. Anything less and you'll be lugging the hell out of it.
