I have a 2001 ultra classic 88'' big bore kit 510 cams and power commander 5... bike has been acting up lately and has trouble starting itll crank and crank and wont start unless i give it throttle once i do that itll turn over and run.. I replaced the engine temp sensor and it didnt do anything, i unplugged the power commander and plugged the stock ecu in and still nothing, cleaned out the throttle body and that did nothing.. I have the magnetti marelli efi in the bike, any suggestions or advice on what to fix would be great

 

I had a similar issue with mine last fall. I could hear the fuel pump run, but there wasn't enough pressure or volume to fire the engine. New pump, filter and in tank fuel lines fixed the problem.

 

Have battery load tested. Check for trouble codes. Clean IAC. On the '97-98's there is a Key On/ Off proceedure to resynch the IAC to the ECM. Not sure if it is the same for your 2001. If none of that works try 702's suggestions.

 

Could be that you have a hole in one of the in tank lines. Checking the fuel pressure would answer that question. It would be worth checking out before you just start replacing things.

 

how do you clean iac? idle air control? where is it

 

how would i check the pressure? dealership?
