100 years ago the bikes did not weigh as much and have as much power. Plenty of bad stories out there about spoke wheels on these bigger bikes. Be prepared to keep a closer eye on them higher maintenance have to take care of them.
Sinister and RideRight are better options for quality. Some mixed reviews on here and elsewhere for DNA. Call the folks at HogPro and ask them. They are a sponsor here.
4 of my 5 bikes have had spokes with ZERO issues. That stat includes 37 years of riding, including several cross country tours. Tell your buddy he's doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't even notice any more effort cleaning them. I use S100 on everything.

Can't comment on that, never had one, but why would that be any different? I'm assuming this bike isn't going on very many long trips right (I guess I don't equate 21" wheels with touring)? So again, I don't see an issue.

It will definitely being hitting the highway, its not like its a 30".Just trying to cover all my bases. Others in this thread commented that they have had issues and have heard that the bigger bikes have had more issues with them as well.

I guess it's possible that bigger wheels have more issues, I just don't understand why it would be any different than a smaller wheel. I agree, there are more things to go wrong with spokes than mags but again, properly maintained, they can last forever. spokes to me are just classic. nothing like the shimmering of chrome spokes on a custom bike The forum is a great source of knowledge but the downfall is that you will get a zillion opinions, and in the end, it will still be up to you to decide what is good for you. Just don't let one person's negative experience shy you away - its sometime's an isolated case.
I have spoke rims, I am assuming they are factory on my 2013 RGC, zero issues and mine are tubeless as well, they actually have what looks like a giant rubber band on the inside of the rim that makes it tubeless, only issue I have with them is when I am needing to check my air, PITA on the rear, not so bad on the front.
18" front 16" on rear.
