I went with the Duracell 30LA AGM type. I think they're made in the US by East Penn MFG. who also makes Deka and HD batteries. It's similar to the HD stock batt. but with more CCA and two year replacement. Also a tad cheaper. I'm grateful for the help and knowledge here in this forum.
The instructions that came with the battery say that the spacers are for side mount terminals. mine are top most. It took me a while to read the fine print.
I think we may have to wait until the 25th century for those Lithium-iron batteries.
Agreed , but the old fashioned Lithium-ion batteries, to date, aren't catching on all that fast either. IMHO, their promised benefits don't yet justify their 2-3 x higher prices and special chargers/maintainers which cost more too.
Having good luck with 3 year old Yuasa bought on sale through Amazon. IMHO, keeping em on a tender is key to extending battery life and a relatively cheap investment that works.
I have one in my Glide, but that is a custom application and it gives me great starting CCA in a small package, but I wouldn't bother on my other near-stock bikes. The current AGM-type batteries are giving much improved performance, even compared with the best available just a few years ago. Simply buying a modern replacement 'normal' battery will give us a boost in performance over the one we replace.
