Default Replace Lifters?

Bike is 16 CVO Street Glide. I'm going to be digging into the bike to add rocker lockers and powder coat some parts. I've read quite about lifters blowing up and destroying things. Should I just replace them while I'm in there or is something I can leave alone?

I've owned Harleys for over 40 years and only ever replaced one lifter. I have a dozen of 'em at present (lifters!) and am not about to replace any of them unnecessarily. Where have you read about them blowing up?

If they are being bumped by a larger cam I would put them on the TBO list. perhaps 20K miles.
Sooner rather than later.
It's insurance.
Even stock ones come apart-that cost a LOT more than 4 lifters.

Never had a problem in the evo and older bikes. Ever since the TC the MoCo has been putting less than stellar lifters in the big twins (not a sportster guy so I don't know). They sometimes fail drama free, as lifters can, and other times they let go with an attitude, and take the case, cams or other things out along with them. This is especially prevalent in the CVO bikes as the 110 came with a heavier valve springs.

So to the OP's question, yes I would recommend replacing them by around 20k or earlier, and definitely if you are already in there. It is cheap insurance.

How many miles on the bike? The 110 is harder on the lifters than the 88, 96 and 103's.

The bike has about 12k on it. I'm not doing cams at this time but I'm tempted. Any lifters I should be looking at besides S&S?

we were planning to work on the push rods of my 13 stage 4, my HD guru said my top end was loud, and since the HD push rods had no adjustment, we opted to replace them with S&S adjustable ones like we used on my 03 when we did the cams in that one.

When we were making the plans to do it ( at the house on Florida.. had to get the parts and tools there) discussed replacing the lifters as my bike had a lifter failure covered by warranty before I got it.

For the 120 dollars it cost me for a set of S&S lifters and rocker gaskets, I went for it since we were 99% of the way there....

120 dollars is short money IMHO for an insurance policy
