Default Looking for handlebar help

Hello all,

For starters I have a 2017 Road glide special with 16” wild one ape hangers. I have front and rear legend suspension. I love getting into the twisties. I’ve had apes on every Harley I’ve owned since 1998. I’m looking for a more aggressive bar that will feel solid in the corners and will be comfortable on the long haul.

Any suggestuons ?

Thank you you in advance ,

KH

Go look at a race bike-
When you see apes on a real race bike you will know you have made the right choice.
Until then, prolly not so much.

A rider has to be brutally honest with himself-
and the truth is hard to come by as I have said so many times.
Your idea of a hard corner will be different then perhaps another person.
The hogs will, for the most part, do a corner better then most people will ever try.
With direct connect low bars everything os much more manageable.
Readable.
Road translation to the pilot is not muted.
Put your fist and wrist up in the air and now you have manufactured a gap in information,

Anyone have insight on a T-bar brand or lower apes that will help with what I’m looking for ?

DIRTY BIRD CONCEPTS HOT ROD BARS..........I love mine! They fit perfect, look cool, gets looks, NOT the usual APES, bike handles awesome and you don't get sore on long rides. So far I've ridden 800 miles non-stop and didn't feel a thing.

What is it about your handlebars that prompts you to want to change them? To make your bike go around corners there are several chassis improvements that will make it go better where you point it.

Having road raced in my youth I can tell you the reason for rear set pegs and clip on bars is to have your center of gravity as low as possible for the best cornering. Low center of gravity works in cars as well which is why sports cars are so low to the ground. Sitting in that posture also lowers wind resistance. Harley's just ain't made that way!
So the best control you can hope for is having bars that, elbows bent, have your forearms parallel to the ground the opposite of apes. I recently installed Wild One WO508 RKII bars for that reason. Aside from better control I find the position more comfortable. My.02 YMMV.

You should sent a PM to TJ316, and ask him about ape hangers and handling.
