If you have to stick a box on the back I would go for the more useful of the two.=King

If its gonna stay on your bike most of the time,go with the chopped,i think it looks bad azz to keep on.If your takeing it off once you get to your destination, get the king, cuz you can hold more gear.JMHO

Is it possible to run the King W/o the big pad? Maybe just the smaller pad like they use w/the chopped one. Do they make a bracket to mount the larger one a little lower? That might make it look more streamlined.

Thanks for everyones opinions and advise. I want with the king figuring since its detachable I can always just take it off. I also got the docking hardware to put just a backrest on it also You think H-D would make them the same but now its 2 different docking systems.

I went with the King pack and did the solo set up with removable mount. I put all the wiring for the lights and speakers in one 12 pin connector so I have only one connection to mess with. My antenna is mounted to the side rail so I do not have to mess with that. Love the comfort and tunes with this set up. In a couple of minutes I can remove and install the passenger seat when needed.

Kruzin: I have a King TP on a two-up detachable rack and an aftermarket TP on a solo detachable rack, but I've been considering mounting the King on the solo. Is it comfortable with the large backrest andare the armrestsin the way getting on or off the bike?

Also, props to you for redoing the wiring connection with a 12-pin connector. Did you use a Deutsch connector?

The backrest is very comfortable. It isn't any harder to get on and off than with having a regular backrest. And yes I did use a Detusch connector. We have them for work so I just took the tool kit and wired up my own connector. By the way I also installed an amp for the rear speakers to pump up the volume. Already have the Hog Tunes amp for the front so I needed to add the other one to equal out the volume. The amp is also wired into this connector.
