Switched out the handle bars on my Street Glide today and broke the lever block for the trip reset, not the cover on top, but what that clips on, one of the pivot dowels broke off, Harley does not sell that part, or I can't find it, and looks like you have to buy the whole left unit at a tune of almost $200, so out comes the epoxy to see if that holds up, meantime I reckon some black duct tape over the hole for now till the fix works, or I can pony up some funds for a new unit, and or till my dealer opens Tuesday to see if they can scrounge up that piece for me. Should of known better. and try to do without removing it, live and learn.
Pick up a set of lighted switch packs from boardtracker
Thanks, but they are more cost, and if I have to buy a whole unit, I was hoping to just change out the part I need instead of pulling the bars and running the wires thru them again, thanks.
Never heard of the baking soda trick? Interesting.
Sorry OP but in the grand scheme of things this is probably one of the easiest and quickest fixes. As mention just unplug the switch pack and plug in a new one.
Well tried the baking soda and still broke off again, what I finally did with a suggestion from a friend was to drill a hole in the broken side and fit a dowel thru the hole of the switch bracket into the slightly smaller hole I drilled into the switch for a press fit, so far,so good. Just hope it stays there, if not, Flea bay has a couple used ones for sale.
