Default antennas

I bought a few months ago a 2001 Ultra Classic. It has the two antennas on the tour pack. I want to remove the CB one as I will never use it and maybe replace the radio one with a stubby one.

Which antenna is the CB one? Left or right side? The one on the right side has a large spring above the mount while the other on doesn't.

Thanks for any insight!

the large "spring" is the CB antenna loading coil used to tune to a short antenna

I found a short fat one at the auto parts store. About 4" tall. Probably fit both of yours and look better than trying to remove 1.

Good ideas! Never thought about just cutting to shorten. They just really a tall whips and really wobble at idle as the bike shakes a lot. Figure to remove the CB on but cut down the radio antenna for better looks.

Did cutting down effect reception much? I actually don't listen to the radio much anyway. I have a few old cassette tapes that I play. Would be interested in streaming but the radio and bike are 2001 and don't have that capability.

I think the 2001 has a port next to the tape player, it should be a 3.5mm port. I use that and my phone for music.

If you're going to toss the CB antenna I'd be interested in trying on my 2015 to see if the service improves.

you don't want to cut the CB antenna shorter if you plan on using the CB transmitter...it will blow out the final transmitter drivers and ruin the CB
