Default Clutch friction zone 2017 FLHTK

I just purchased a 2017 Limited Ultra and seem to be having problems adapting to the clutch friction zone. The engagement takes place in about 1/4" of lever movement. Is this normal to these bikes? It's a bit intimidating to ride such a heavy bike with such a sudden clutch engagement.

Thanks in advance
Louis B

It'll become second nature. It just takes time and practice. BTW, there's a recall on the clutch.

Yes, they engage with less travel, its actually a good thing in my opinion.

I agree. I went from a cable clutch to hydraulic and adapted to it very quickly. I prefer the hydraulic.

Is it really the amount of lever movement in the friction zone or how far from the grip the lever is as the friction zone begins? The friction zone beginning either closer to the grip or farther out that may be creating your "learning curve".

.

I’m having problems/learning curve with how fast it goes from disengaged to fully engaged. I’d like to have more control at low speeds by being able to slip it a bit more.

Put some miles on it. You won't give it a second thought!

. Thanks. Good advice. I need to get stuck in traffic and give my left hand a good workout.

I asked a couple of LE motor cops, and settled on a PSR adjustable clutch. I have a slightly used (one week) Oberon, if anyone is interested.
