Default Not satisfied with lower fairing install

I bought the HD lower fairings when I bought the bike and put them on myself. I'm not happy with either my install, or the way they fit, either way if you can offer some advice, please do so.

I've looked at the Ultra's, etc. that have them installed at the factory and they seem to "fit" better than mine, so maybe I have them out of position somehow.

In the pics, you'll see that they fit snug at the outer radius but as the top piece approaches the bike there is a "wedge" I would call it in the seam that opens up. The gap is not uniform as I think it should be. I've taken them on and off a couple times but nothing I've tried so far seems to improve them and it's like on both the left and right fairings.

Yeah something is not quite right there. Looks like you have something tweaked a bit. Not sure I'm really much help, but maybe you could loosen or disconnect the bottom and push the bottom forward a bit to close the gap on top and tighten before you connect the bottom.

thanks, and you're right, it's something. It seems pretty straight forward but the gap is almost identical on both sides, you'd think I would at least get one or the other close.

That would definitely **** me off. I have a set of factory lowers that I plan to install as soon as i get a factory crash bar. I think i ll put them together off the bike first to see how they fit. When I took them off my buddies bike i don't recal there being any unevenness

As I recall the cap has some alignment tabs to engage into their respective slots. Its been awhile since I installed mine. But yes yours are not right. here is a pic of how mine fit

Loosen your hardware just a little and kind of bump them around until they "settle" onto the crash bar a little better. Pardon my description, but they may be just a tiny bit out of position and still tighten down, but not align very well.

I had the same problem, the bottom of mine were not positioned properly at the crash bar. They were hitting it, I wiggled them around until the top fit tightly. Good luck, you'll get it. There should be no gap prior to tightening the screws, so don't use the screws to "pull" it together.
