Default Security Antenna

Does anybody know if I can change just the security antenna without anything needing programing? My 18 RKS still won't start unless my fob is literally 1/2" away from the antenna. Its only $11.00 from Surdyke so I wouldn't be out a lot of money to try it. But if I have to go to the dealer thats a 4 hour ride round trip I will let warranty handle it.

I can't answer your question but that sounds like a valid reason to tell the wifey why you need to take a 4 hour ride .

I'd try letting the dealer fix it if it's under warranty. It may or may not be the antenna- let them figure that out. I can think of a lot worse ways to spend a day than a nice long ride..............

You should have two fobs, do they both behave the same way (assuming the batteries in the fob are good)?

Warranty...Good excuse for a ride. If you have thawed out yet up there.

So this has been happening since new? Pretty sure I’ve read that the antennas are sometimes just placed in a bad spot and they can be moved some under there to get better reception.

Worked at the dealer when I picked it up, I bought it new a few months ago brought it home and parked it. Now trying to get accessories on before riding season and the damn thing won't start unless I enter the pin. or set the fob on the antenna.

Try it away from home, and see what happens. Might be something in the home, garage, shop creating interference.

I will as soon as I get to ride it, however I live in the country 15 miles to the nearest city, and my wifes bike starts with no issues right next to it.
