Far as I know. I bought as it sits. This is the first bit of work I’ve done to it.

I don’t have manual release either. It’s an efi 88. Anniversary edition. Where does the pressure go for starting if no release is available automatic or not?

If your tensioners broke up and/or your cam bearings broke up, you are not ready to fire it up.......!!!!

Did you flush the sump of the engine and flush the oil pan? Many replace the oil pan because they don't believe they can get a good flush with all the baffles in it..... If you don't account for all the broken parts and/or do a very complete flush, you are just buying time until left over debris will damage the oil pump and ruin your engine....

Did you check/ replace the oil pump on the cam plate? If you had debris going through the engine, there is a good chance the oil pump is toast... or at least scored and not pumping properly.

Did you replace or disassemble and clean your lifters? Lifters are called secondary oil filters... if you had debris going through the engine, it can lodge in the lifters and stop/decrease the flow of oil through your lifters.

How did you remove the pushrods? Did you cut out the old ones and use adjustable pushrods? Did you remove the rocker boxes and remove the rocker arms to get the pushrods out? When you installed the pushrods (OEM or adjustable) did you install them on the base circle of the cam and wait for the lifters to bleed down before turning over the engine? If not you may have a bent valve.....

Sorry if you know all this, but your explanation of your repair is seriously lacking in details that could lead to many issues....

Hopefully you have a service manual.........

Good luck with the repair...

Um... the vast majority of engines out there do not have compression releases.... the starter over comes the compression stroke to start the engine.

In the case of a Harley Twin Cam, OEM or mild build pre-103 engines do not have/need compression releases...

I see the timing mark on the cam gear, but can't make out the timing mark on the crank gear...

You did have them aligned when you put it together, correct? In this pic, either you have rotated the engine after installing the gears, or your cam timing is way off....

Here is a pic from when I updated my 2003 tensioners to the '07+ cam plate mod. This pic shows the alignment of the cam gears for proper cam timing. If you didn't put yours back together with these marks aligned, you will never get it to un properly... and depending on how far off your cam timing is, you may have bent a valve/pushrod...

My knowledge isn’t the best, but I took it to a shop and they said I did everything right but I didn’t replace all 4 lifters at once. Only did the one that failed. So back to that, and probably going to replace the oil pump as well. Didn’t remove the oil pan but did drain and flush and cleaned out the cam compartment completely of any debris, put in fresh oil and buttoned it up.

Where are you in Florida? There's quite a few of us who are here and maybe could check it out.

As stated, the 06 and earlier motors don't have ACRS.. Are you using stock pushrods? If so there are 2 lengths and the longer ones go on the exhaust valves.
