I’m looking for an adjustable backrest for my 2011 FLHTK. I’ve found the seat and mount online in Salt Lake for about $35 cheaper than my local dealer..... but the shipping cost makes it a wash.
Is there a “known” place that offers the best deals on parts and shipping that make the wait worth it?
New Castle has a terrible shipping calculation (in my opinion). The charge is a percentage of the sale, for the items, I wanted it was about 6.5%. I was told that after the fact, I could request an adjustment on shipping charges- I am pretty sure the stuff I wanted to order from them would have fit in a relatively small box (9" X 6" ) and weigh under 3 lbs. It was all electrical stuff. To me a "fair" charge would be around $10 or $15 max. - not $50. And that was regular ground non priority, etc......... Too bad because their prices are pretty good.
Surdyke's prices are higher, likely to cover the "Free" shipping.
Ronnie's has pretty good prices on fiche parts- they charge for shipping but depending on the merchandise, in a couple instances they still came out cheaper overall than the places offering "free" shipping.

Hales HD in Mansfield, Ohio used to be a 20% discount shipper. But I checked a few minutes ago and they don't discount now for online orders.
I made one order with New Castle because their prices ARE the cheapest on the net. After placing my order and receiving a tracking number ,I waited. I then received another update and my ship date was another week out. I then received another email stating that my product was out of stock. They were good about the refund but I suspect they drop ship from other dealers which can really increase ship times or cause stock issues like I experienced.

I've ordered probably twenty times from New Castle. Never have I received a package from them that had been dropped shipped from another dealer. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but that's my experience. I mentioned this in another thread, but I always use their "check inventory" feature before I order anything, especially if I need it quickly. Otherwise, I used Boardtracker or Surdyke if I wasn't in a hurry.
