Hi folks, looking for a little insight of what to look for before I take my bike to the shop. 2012 Ultra with 22,000 miles on it. Stage one with 255 cams (cams installed by dealer at 1200 miles).
The issue, about 500 miles ago I started noticing an occasional “bump” in the engine while a steady speeds. Well, over the weekend I participated in a benefit ride out of town. Round trip was about 200 miles. The ride there was fine, as was the group ride. But on the way home the “bump” became more and more frequent. Full throttle acceleration is fine and strong, but as soon as it levels off the engine misfires hard enough to hear the backlash in the transmission. Thought about bad fuel, but my wife’s Heritage was filled from the same pump, and it runs fine. Plugs are the same color, lite brown. Checked and found no codes.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Good suggestion and I will look into that, but If it were bad gas , fuel pump, or gas filter problem, I wouldn’t think it would accelerate really strong to 5000 rpms.
Possibly, probably should trade it for a new one... Ha
I've got about the same miles. The only time I had that same issue was gas, but I'm no mechanic.. Surprised you're not getting any codes.
Lol, if I had the money I WOULD trade it off. Really like the new ones. The gas will be dumped as soon as I get time to do it. I hope your right. I’m probably over thinking this ( bad problem of mine).
I don't know what they charge for service at HD to look it over.. but it may be worth it before it gets too bad.
I had to beat them up a couple of years ago for a problem I was having.. (losing oil). Finally found a piston had walled out the front jug.
$3500 ! But only $100 for the ESP. That was my only horror story..
What are you using for your FI tuner? I had one go bad a couple of years ago, and so did a brother. Exact same symptoms as you are experiencing. His bike we just pulled off the tuner and mine I replaced with adiiferent one. Both solutions worked.

Good luck
Don’t know that there is an FI tuner. Haven’t seen one on it. Looked into one about a year ago but decided not to get it.
check your battery terminal torque...they do loosen up and will cause issues like this.....also how old are the spark plugs? if they haven't been changed in awhile I would replace them.
