Default Oil temp sensor

I have an 06 ultra. I already have an oil temp gauge it was already installed when I purchased the bike. I was looking at the instructions for what it shows the operating temp should be at. I noticed it said that the sensor is to be installed in the oil pan beside the drain plug. I thought to myself I dont recall a sensor there. So I looked and there isn't. Now I'm wondering where it could be. Every other sensor I can see seems to factory operation sensors. I.E. pressure sensor. The gauge reads a temp from somewhere. I have attached photos to see if anyone would notice something out of the ordinary.

Oil filter from right side. I believe the sensor here is for pressure

Top trans from right side. I believe that sensor is neutral

Is it a HD kit that was installed (part # 70900283) or aftermarket?

Perhaps a little more info may help, maybe a picture of the gauge ...

For the HD part mentioned above the sensor replaces the plug that should not normally be removed, next to the oil drain plug.

There should be a sensor screwed in at the location marked “crank”, it’s just inboard of the oil drain. On the forward/front of the oil pan. That’s the location for the HD gauge, aftermarket?

The original location for the oil temp sensor was on the right side of the engine case under the cover indicated in my pic. It was a bitchin' place to install it, so it was changed to the oil pan later.

There have been a couple of other who rewired and refit a temp gauge to there system do a good search and you can find them on the new M8 motor. Harley dose not want us to see were the temps are that why they don't offer it anymore theses motors still get to hot if you ask me.

I see 2 non stock wires,on the frame down tube above the oil filter. 2 beige wires with solderless connectors into 2 green wires. did you trace those down,to see where they go?

I recently installed the HD oil temp kit ($127 from Surdyke). I have seen the oil pan oil temp as high as 230 F, indicated, after hard runs. It typically runs between 180~200, more or less. I made a 200+ mile ride yesterday and the temp was hovering just below 230 F when I got home after a hard 25 mile run at 75 - 85 mph on the Sam Houston Tollway. I am interested to see how high it gets during our infamous Texas Gulf Coast summers...
