Anyone with Progressive 944's please help
I just installed a set of Progressive 944's on my 2009 Road King (FLHR). I got a crazy good deal on them from a private local sale that couldn't pass up. Everything was a breeze to install. Problem is, I am seeing people saying to install them upside down with the adjuster on the bottom as it can effect anything you install on the docking hardware (passenger back rest, tour pack etc). I installed them with the adjuster on the top as the instructions did not come with them so I was not aware of this. I just put on my passenger back rest and it went on with out a problem. There is still a tiny bit of clearance between the 'mount hook' on the back rest and the top of the shock where it adjusts. It doesn't touch at all...it comes close but there is definitely some clearance. My stock hard saddle bags also go on without a problem and do not touch anything they shouldn't. Am I OK to keep the shocks on this way since there is no touching? Is there any other reason they should be installed upside down that I'm missing? I don't want to damage anything. Any advice from people with these shocks would be greatly appreciated.

Installed 940's on former '09 FLHX (right side up) w/o any clearance issues. There are spacers and w/proper alignment everything should work correctly. IMO, the few who have issues & install upside down didn't install them correctly...they're manufactured for proper install w/adjusters on top. Call Progressive and I'm sure they'll tell you the same - keep yours as they are (correct).

When I installed mine the instructions were if you had docking hardware to install with adjusters on the bottom. Do you know if you got the standard length and if you got the HD version (Heavy Duty). HD is for regular use as two up riding, 250 lbs. I put a mark on the fixed end and ran the adjuster to no compression and lined the adjuster to mark zero turns. There is a video on progressive site to set sag.
