If you ever need to do a future belt adjustment, or check axle torque, get yourself a set of these (both 36 mm). No need to remove mufflers.

Jim's Third Hand Tool, and Jim's Torque Adapter.

Personally, I’ve never bought a new one. I remove and reinstall the same c-clip afterward. Pretty sturdy clip that pops off and on.

That third hand seems, cough, cough, handy but $60 for the torque adapter seems excessive for what it is. I’ll just pull the muff. It’s only 3 nuts.

Yes, I believe mine was 36mm as well and used a large adjustable from Harbor Freight on the other side.

I just did this about 2 months ago. I followed the manual for torque specs and this video here for visual reference.

Pre marking the boss and testing belt deflection before removing anything also helped.

I'm sure there are less expensive alternatives. I don't go cheap on tools, and Jim's makes top notch specialty tools. After using the 3rd hand tool several times, I would never go back to having a wrench in each hand while applying final torque, and simultaneously keeping the weld nut stationary. As I've aged, I've learned to work smarter, not harder.

Yeah they are 36mm... I grabbed mine at Ace hardware and its a lot easier with two.

I would still get a manual... Torque Specs, Tools Sizes, and proper steps.

Had an Indy install a new tire. Yea, he scribed the boss and cam beforehand. Problem was, he failed to ensure the cam contacted the boss even though the scribe marks were aligned. Needless to say, the wheel was misaligned.

Thank you Guys for all the input! I will probably look for Jim’s tools on Ebay or Amazon for next time! I rented a 36 MM socket from Advanced Auto Parts. Than I bought a box end 36 mm wrench at Northern Tools. My Harbor Freight didn’t sell individual sockets or wrenches. I used the breaker bar on the socket as the back up and used the open end wrench to tighten and loosen. The wrench had a better fit than the socket to me. I went to Harley for advice and they kinda blew me off on this! I wasn’t there 3 minutes. Very disappointed! Should believe in loyalty if you going to run a business. Anyways, I did change the circle clip. Just figured for 1.88 it was better to be safe than sorry. The wrench was 24 bucks at Northern Tool and the socket was free as long as you return it. All in all, my new ***** Shiny Rims are on the bike! I appreciate everyone that had any input and hope I can return the favor as I stay on the board. Here are a couple of pictures.
