Default Do I have a tuner?

Hello,

My 2015 Road King had a tuner. This Ultra Classic is heavier and riding 2-up pulls stronger than my dynoed RK.

Dealer said it didn’t have a tuner.

My RK tuner was under the side cover so, I removed both side covers and the seat but didn’t find a tuner.

Is there another location it might be?

It could have been flashed with a tuner (SE, TTS) etc. The dealer can easily find out if it was flashed.

Might have been put on a Dyno and professionally tuned.

Thanks. It’s a one owner bike, serviced by the dealership who sold it.

Im going to call them Tuesday and ask for the service records.

Not all tuners need to stay attached to the bike. The SE tuners are basically just an interface between the tuning program and the ECM. Once a tune is loaded, the module (tuner) is simply unplugged.

With used bikes, sometimes people trade them in and forget to keep the tuning module with the bike, or the dealer keeps them in hopes to sell a new one.

I traded in a bike a few years ago and gave the dealer the SE Pro Super Tuner (the now banned one) so whoever bought the bike would have it. By chance I ran into the new buyer and he wanted to know why the bike ran so much stronger than his last 88”. Well, the dealer never told him that the bike had the 95” big bore kit, it was dyno tuned, and they also never gave him the SEPST module. Figures!

Will I ever “need” the tuning module (assuming I have a tune)?

No you won’t need it unless you make changes to the bike and want to (or need to) update the tune.

Thanks Cygnus. I think I’ll just enjoy the ride and stop wondering about it.
