Road Glide headlights - new issue
Posted this over in the Rushmore section, but didn’t get many replies, so Posting here as well.
I don’t ride much at night, but was out the other night, and noticed something changed. Prior to this, both my high and low beams would both light up at the same time when the high beams are turned on, now if the high’s are turned on the lows shut off.
What the hell could have happened??
Only thing I can think is that when I added the smart security during the winter, the required ECM flash to program the fobs messed something up.
Have to say, this issue seriously reduces your vision at night when flipping on the highs.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: I also did a bar swap, and added an FP3 - not sure if that may add to the mix.

Just a thought with no facts to back it up... You mentioned ECM flash. On the batwing bikes you can have the ecm flashed so the passing lights stay on all of the time, even when the headlight is on high beam. The pre-Rushmore bikes you had to buy a harness. Could it be possible that on a RG it’s similar that you can flash the ecm to have low-beam stay on when you switch to hi-beam and when you flashed the ecm it canceled it out?
Good Luck..

Flashing the BCM for the security system is the same unit that would need to be flashed for headlight customization. It's likely that a BCM customization setting was disabled upon flashing the security system, and this is something that should be easily fixed with a Digital Technician at the dealership.

Update:
The flashed my bike for a street glide rather than a road glide when the programmed the security. It took all of 2 min to fix it.
Funny thing is, I called the local dealer that did the original flash, and they told me I was crazy, and that it’s illegal to run the high and low at the same time. So I took it to Z&M Harley in greensburg, PA (Great people there) and they had it fixed in record time. Didn’t even charge me! Kinda restores my faith in some dealers.
