This must be the dealer doing this to make money.

PPearl, who was it? 1stCapital HD?
I generally don't like to name drop, but this was Susquehanna Valley HD up in Harrisburg.

Is this typical life expectancy for OEM rotors?
Would it be worthwhile to upgrade to floating rotors?

Thanks!
Pearl, you're getting taken for a ride. I would ask you, did the front brakes work fine as you rode to the stealership? No vibration, nice and smooth? If so, you're getting taken.

If you ever go back to this dealership your nuts. Just my opinion.

Just read the PDF with the vehicle inspection from state of PA.concerning motorcycles and how they're inspected. The state of PA has apparently put the fox in charge of the hen house. A Harley dealership inspecting Harley's how convenient. Does the state get a kick back from the dealership for the "discrepancy"? Did your dealer take your bike for a test ride? Just asking?

Yes, the state does. The inspection stickers aren't free and they're supplied by PennDOT. They don't get a kickback from the repairs, but they are making some revenue. This situation isn't unique to motorcycles, it's the same deal with all vehicles registered in PA, every year. You are free to take it to an independent mechanic, but they also have to be licensed by the state. They did run it up and down the parking lot as part of the inspection process. In the PDF, the only thing I can think of is "shimmy, wander and pull - or other questionable operating behavior that affects the safe operation of vehicle" That word "questionable" could be anything they feel like drumming up. Rotor runout isn't mentioned anywhere. I'll see what they say in my followup appointment on Tuesday.

Next year I'll take it to the Triumph dealer like I usually do. They're closer to my house.
