Default Spit and sputter problem help

Soooo. This is my first post here been following this forum for a while now some good info out here so here goes hopefully someone has ran across this before ..

I have a 2009 road king police edition 103 air filter headers slip ons the whole 9 yards about six months ago it started to sputter between 2800 and 3100 rpm’s in all gears except for sixth starts to sputter for lack of better words almost a misfire .. so I have gotten lots of information from lots of people and tried several different things I changed fuel filter and pump the map sensor the crank sensor the tuner change the map on the tuner the coil spark plug wires checked charging voltage while running it’s at 14.4 V when I am driving it at the said 2800 rPMs. Now here is what has me really confused if you ride it like you were dragracing the thing doesn’t miss a beat or sputter at all but when you are at cruising speed and in the said RPM range it sputters then give it another 100 to 200 RPMs and it clears right up anybody had this happen ? The only thing that I haven’t changed is the induction module that controls the throttle position sensor the stater and the voltage regulator and ECU.

Any suggestions would be great as I would really like to make Sturgis this year :-)

thanks in advance

Try to slow down and describe your problem. All I can read is that you have a 103 air filter, header, and slip-ons. Are these attached to a motorcycle? See the difference punctuation can make?

I don't have any problem reading his post/s. Only problem is you have done things that I'd recommend. You mentioned you replaced the plug wires. Maybe you have a spark plug that's starting to go bad or did you replace those with the wires and forgot to mention it?

I'm at a loss too but I'm not a bike mechanic. I wonder what your compression is doing? Just guessing now....

Hard to say with the information you provided.... but as you have found out, throwing parts at it can get expensive. Better to do a systematic diagnosis of the issue(s)....

Did you check for any codes....?

Is the tuner a piggyback or flash tuner.... who supplies the maps?

Did the problem start after the Stage I mods were added 6 months ago? Or did start running poorly 6 months ago, but that was awhile after the stage I mods were done?

Any service/repair/mods done just before it started running poorly?

Do you have the ability to do a compression and/or leak down test....?

Several things come to mind, but I can't give an educated guess without more information...

I did also add Andrews 48H cams but it was running good after all the mods I have had stage one in there for two years. I have a power vision pro tuner on there which actually flashes the ECM and I got my mail directly from Dino jet I do not have the ability to do a compression test or a leak down but I do have the ability to start testing stater and voltage regulator probably tomorrow I checked my fluid because everybody says the primary fluid smells electrically burnt if the stater is going out but the primary just smells like gear lube not burnt at all I am going to systematically start checking the electrical system battery voltage regulator stater I can just jump into the stater wires and hopefully it’s putting out the proper voltage I will have to look that up if I can’t figure it out I will just have to be at the mercy of the dealer

Does it sputter at the same rpm through all the gears? Or just at cruising/6th gear? If it's at exactly the same point in the rpm range each gear (accelerating slowly) then I'd say it's the TPS.
