Someone said size. And how many Harley's actually benefit from reduced weight of a lighter battery? Baggers carry around an extra 200 lbs of fiberglass and frame. Not to mention a lot of riders are on the portly side. I can see a benefit in a Sportster, or a lighter Dyna.
I'm going to recommend the conventional battery here...At least you don't have to buy another battery charger on top of a 300 dollar battery. .
I dont disagree with you, but you asked, and this is often what I see mentioned as a reason. Personally I think a litium ion battery for a ICE motorcycle is a bit silly, especially where I live, where it gets cold. Not sure what the benefit would be beside weight. More cost, problems in cold, fewer cranking amps, etc. Yeah I personally dont get it.
I still have the original battery in my 2016 FLHXS. When the time comes, I will be replacing it with the HD Lithium. I am really interested in the weight savings.
No the Antigravity Lithium battieries have a feature where it stores enough energy to press the button on top and it effectively is like jumping your bike off.........if the battery is dead. I have the Antigravity Lithium on my bike and love it.........880 CCA, light weight, and spins my bike over super quick. Now it usually cranks on 1/2 -1 engine turnover.
It doesn't seem logical to me that guys who chose to buy baggers are now concerned about weight. There, I've said it.
Why sure!!
I even went so far as to put Helium in my tires,
run the engine with one quart less oil,
pump 5 gallons of gas instead of 6 and
a Lithium Battery and
take off all of the extras like lights and other non-essential items.
all to save weight......................
