Default Burning oil

Ihave an 03 Roadking. I am burninga little more thana quart of oil every 3000 miles.

I had the dealership perform a leak down test, here are the results:
Front cyl 12%
Rear cyl 60%

The dealership says that HD told them that 60% is within spec. This just does not sound right to me.

Comments?

What brand and weight of oil do you use? If not hd 360 20-50 then use it or Try a syn brand other than the hd syn3. Mobile 1, amsoil or royal purple in 20-50 all are good.

I have the same issue, same amout on my 06. I use HD 20/50 and notice no oil use untill the oil has about 800 miles on it then it goes down hill from there. with 15K now on the bike I have elected NOT to change brand or type of oil as this can bring on its own trbls. I do think that the oil starts to break down after that point, SYN may have worked better, but I'll try it on the next motor. Riding 2-up on hot days seems to add to the problem

If it was my bike, I'd be turning wrenches and I'd be looking at the valve seals and guides on both headsand pulling that rear jug to see what's up with the rings. The dealer can quote whatever he thinks is acceptable but those numbers just aint right.

That doesn't sound right at all but maybe it has something to do with the new bikes running so hot. Extra heat thins the oil, makes it easier to get past rings and burn off?
I have a 99 RKC with 42K and have never had to add oil between changes. I change it at 5K miles using plain old HD 20/50. 4qt in, 4qt out.
Does it smoke at all?

Have you tried running some "Seafoam" through it or "Ring Free"? Just a thought.

First, my experience to make you wonder what is wrong with your bike......My 2000 has 66k miles and doesn't use any oil between changes. I use HD dino.,

Second, if your bike is running good, has good compression, and does not smoke. I wouldn't worry about it.
