Default Seats...

Ok gents I am looking for ideas, cause I am at wits end. Sorry for the length of this and I don’t want to start a seat war, or a whole new “What’s the best Seat” thread, but I am looking for suggestions.

Seat goes on a 2015 Ultra Limited.

Started with the stock seat with a back rest. The stock seat starts burning my *** at about 30 miles. My wife however says it’s the most comfortable seat she’s ever sat on, and the back rest is at the perfect height as to not dig into her legs.

So I bought a Mustang Super Touring, one-piece, two-up seat with a Mustang back rest. I love it, I can go for miles on it, but the wife says it’s to hard, and after about 150 miles, and she says the back rest is to wide and digs into her legs. Not really conducive to going anywhere other than short day trips. The Mustang seems to sit you lower, and back farther.

So, I’ve tried seat covers, gels, cushions, Air Hawks...nothing works to make it more comfortable.

So I saw that one of the local shops had Saddlemen seats to try. So I grabbed a Road Sofa and tried it out for a weekend. She thought it was ok, but I couldn’t take it for more than 30 miles before I had to get off of it. We rode that way for a whole weekend with me stopping every 30 miles.... So the Saddlemen seat went back to the dealer... The Saddleman Road Sofa seemed narrower, pushed you forward, but seemed way lower than any of the seats.

So, talking to one of the parts guys, he suggested the Harley Road Zeppelin. So I ordered one and put it on the bike.
#1. It’s ugly.
#2. It’s wide, and overly puffy.
#3. It’s ugly

I thought it it was ok, but not in love with it. The wife hated it as it was way to wide and interfered with her leg positioning. I rode on it and got used to the feel, which is way different than the Mustang. The Road Zeppelin puts you up way higher, and farther forward. So the Road Zeppelin is going back.

Now I am back to the stock seat and back rest until I can come up with a new plan.

Only three options I can see now, as I am not paying $1260 for a CVO seat....

1.) send the stock seat to Mean City and have them modify the Drivers seat.
2.) get a solo Mustang Super Tourer, and then try every passenger seat until she finds on she likes.
3.) put the stock one (and the back rest & bracket) on when she rides, and put the Mustang on when I am solo.

Problems with all three of those options.

Options 1. No guarantees that I’ll like what l get back from Mean City
Option 2. Not sure if I can put a Mustang seat with a different manufactures passenger seat?....
Option 3. Serious pain in the *** to do every time, and still doesn’t address the issue.

Any other suggestions or ideas that I am not thinking of?

Stop by your local dealer and try a HD Sundowner seat. Has memory foam in it. Not overly large. Corbin is a butt conforming comfy seat, but has to be broken in. They are very firm. I settled on the Mustang super touring. Good for me, but I think the little woman just tolerates it. Good luck in your search.

all I can add is the sundowner is very comfortable but sits you up higher and is way wider therefore at 5 ‘8 I can’t flat foot anymore BUT the wife loves it

Yeah, I haven’t tried the Sundowner. I guess I could see if the local place has one to try out. Has any one tried my idea in option #2 (Mustang Solo with another manufactures passenger seat) and had any success?

I'm in the same boat.
I had Astech redo my stocker for my 19 limited. rider and passenger, dished and moved an inch back.
It is more comfortable, but I still prefer the rider position of my Mustang.
Have the same as you, super touring, Mustang backrest.
So, do I use my mustang more and really break it in, less than 500 miles at this point.
Do I send my Mustang in to Astech for gel and foam?

Luckily, my wife is indifferent, so it's on me to figure out what I like...

Have you looked at a hammock Harley seat?

MCC is probably the least expensive option and they come highly reccommended by myself and many others.

I had them do the memoryfoam upgade on my Heritage seat and, althoug it took a time to break in, it made a significant difference in improved comfort after about 1K miles..

If she is already happy, and MCC can make your part of the seat good for you, you both will be happy.

It is a lot cheaper than buying seasts.

A lot of people have your issue, I finally got a Corbin seat, it's the best for me, so far, takes a bit to get molded to ya, it is firm, but more I ride it, the more comfortable it gets, good luck, I have a Mustang super tour, and a sundowner in my garage, Corbin on the bike

The Day-Long Seat is another option. Many iron butt riders swear by them. They are expensive.
