I have a 2019 Road King I brought in May 2019. In August I noticed that their was a lot of pinging and some times engine knock on heavy throttle. Took it to the dealer and they said it was low on oil (after 3 days in the shop). They topped off the engine oil, took it for a 20 minute ride, said it used a 1/2 quart of oil. The bike has 3,000 miles on it, and has been great. I changed the fluids at 1,000 miles myself, have receipts from H-D purchase. The service writer said they would call H-D tech line to see how they could proceed. She called me later, and said they could not find where they did the 1K service. I informed her that I did the 1K service, and she was like, well let me see what the HD Tech line wants to do. Can they deny warranty cause I did the 1K service. ? I just spent over 20K for a new 2019 FLHR, and Harley might stiff me on a bad motor ! What can I do if things get ugly ? The service writer said she has heard of HD trikes suddenly using oil. Be safe. Bob
Please get informed on the problems that many folks are having with their M8 (2017 and newer) motors. Oil Sumping, oil not getting pumped out of the bottom of the motor and resulting foam and stuff causing engine damage.
Don't let the dealer try to blame it on you. Get someone who knows a lot about these problems to help be your spokesperson.
The owners manual states clearly what you need to do if servicing the vehicle yourself to maintain warranty. You need the receipts for the parts, date and mileage service was performed what was done and signature. Good luck and let us know what happens

They cannot require you to pay them to do the required service. They can void your warranty if the required service wasn't done, they just can't require that they must do it. Hopefully you performed all the "requirements" of the 1000mi service. As long as you show them a check list of services you performed, and receipts for any required parts for the service, they would have to prove you did not do it, to void your warranty....
I have all the required service checklists printed out for my bikes. I go right down the list and do what is required for each mileage required service, and I initial it on the list and then sign & date the list, with mileage. I also keep receipts for parts purchased.... I never had a problem, and only showed my records once. I brought a bike in for a warranty problem and put a copy of my service records on the Service Writers desk. I told him he won't find service records in his computer, I do it all myself, and here's the documentation... He looked them over and said, "Wow, everything's here". He gave them back and wrote up the warranty claim.....

They will not deny your warranty claim because you performed the 1,000 mile service yourself. The factory "Recommends" you save receipts...Which means that they cannot require you to do so.

If I understand correctly you bought a new 2019 HD motorcycle, it is having operating problems, and you are now 4 months into a 24 month/ unlimited mileage warranty. I am unfamiliar with the 2019 owners manual that comes with the new motorcycle, but my 2014 owners manual has approximately 25 pages devoted to explaining the warranty, how to comply with it, and a dispute resolution process. Have you read yours?
Mine says that some countries, states or other locations may require the dealer to perform the routine maintenance for the warranty to be in effect. Does your state, city, or county require that? Mine doesn't, and if you live in the USA your country does not either. If you live in Brazil it may be different, as the owners manual specifically mentions Brazil.
So if you have your receipts and documentation from the 1000 mile fluid change, you are probably in good shape. But you need to assemble your documents, build your case, and it sounds like also do some homework. You might also want to study the maintenance table in your manual. A lot of things beyond fluid changes are required, at 1000 miles, although many are just checks and verifications. And this is why I say this: if you do the homework and sound like you know what you are talking about - you will sound like you know what you are talking about. Just a tip for effective communication to get what you need.
I so hope this works out for you.
As the owner of two M8s, - thoroughly aware of the problems with that platform and also historically aware of the MoCo and Stealerships screwing owners every-which way they can, I am leaving these two engines bone stock and will sue the living daylights out of them if the violate the Magnussen- Moss Warrantee Act.
I think you will be fine as far as doing your own 1,000 mile service; I do my own. As for the MoCo and the Stealership, well ???
Have you been breaking it in according to the book or driving it like you stole it from day one? Oil consumption during break in is not unusual and should stabilize soon. The other possibilities listed above are serious possibilities also. Many of us intentionally run a half quart low- half way between add and full on the dip stick. Was your level a half quart below add or right at the add mark? Especially during break in and at least for the first 5000 to 10,000 miles YOU should check your oil level frequently. If the engine USES too much oil, that is a warranty problem. If YOU destroy the engine from not checking the oil level, I suspect YOU pay.
I so hope this works out for you.
