Finally!
It all started with a VA hand surgery that went sideways. Ended up with another surgery (civilian) permanent tendon/nerve damage but he was able to save my hand. But being out of the saddle for a year gave me time to get the some previously planned projects completed, along with a few unexpected ones due to some mechanical issues.
Progressive suspension
11" mini apes (better for hand)
4 point docking for tourpack (bought aftermarket and wired myself).
2014 stretched saddlebags with 6.5" speaker lids
2014 rear bag guards (slight mods to fit 2013 frame)
re-wired half the bike because of the previous owner cutting things
Head Unit, fairing speakers, 6.5" saddlebag speakers
1000W amp (thanks guys for the recommendation - ROCKS!!!)
purple leds in instrument cluster - sent out tack/speedo as well (wife's favorite color)
Rewired and built a bracket to move the radio antenna
plate relocation
Rebuilt primary from shaft out, all new bearings/seals including the SE compensator
new breather bypass system made out of 1/4" stainless tubing
Of everything, think the hardest part was the wiring. The original owner decided to just cut things like the CB, rear speaker wires/tourpack, etc. So while running the 8g and 16g for the amp/speakers traced it all and either removed or rebuilt what was needed. Now have full run/turn/brake on the tourpack using a weatherpak connector.
All that's left to do is paint. Thinking a simple black to midnight purple with some pearl to highlight. Since the trip to the dragon was my first real chance to get some riding in, it was a bit challenging. The dragon isn't bad, but the moonshiner and some of the other runs were brutal. At one point I could barely squeeze the throttle. But I've been working my way back. I'm just glad that the downtime turned into something positive towards progress on the bike.
