I wound up caught in the middle. I liked the wind in the face bad boy dynas, but my old bones like the comfort, and storage. I might still buy a sportster some day, but I am starting to doubt it.
I agree but I don't need the tunes so Long Live the KING
I'm on my 2nd RG. Just can't see me ever having anything else. Some like a fairing and some don't but I do. But I must admit if I ever again wanted a bike without a fairing I would have a RK. I have seen some really nicely appointed Kings. As far as the tunes, I never had tunes before my 1st RG. Wasn't really interested. But since I have had a RG having tunes has really grown on me. Not any radio station in particular, mind you, I loaded about 11 hrs. of the music I like in a used ipad I bought from my neighbor and plug that into the Jukebox port on the bike. Love it!
Having tunes, like so many other options, can be addictive.
yzr, if you move up to a bagger keep that heritage "that fits you like a glove "at least for awhile after the move. the reason I say that is I had a 13 fxdc that I loved riding but my main bike is my street gilde. my wife was riding the fxdc all the time but wanted saddlebags so like a dumba$$ I traded it for a 16 fld switch back. I hate that thing, and never ride it.....
So, heres the deal: you are all right and you are all wrong.
The best answer is to have one of each in your garage. I am amazed at how much I love the SGS even for just around town riding. Its so smooth and so convenient that it doesnt have to be out on the open road to shine.
But, there are times when my FXDB is the perfect ride. Ive done trips all over including 400 and 500 mile days with ease on this bike and of course it hits its sweet spot at bike nights and group rides.
I love them both.....yes, I think about downsizing the SGS to a Heritage just because of my size, but when I demo the FLHCS, its impossible to compete against the SGS. Love them both!!
That is the best answer. I've been telling myself if I get a touring bike I'm keeping my Sportster.
