Default Kuryakyn fuel door Button ?

I installed on of these yesterday on my 97, today the spring portion is broken.
That's just from sitting over night, really great..

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
Also wondering if someone might have the spring piece for the earlier bikes like mine, as it comes with different pieces for early and late models and you only use one of them.

Yeah mine broke too after a couple months. Tried using the Harley one after that which looks very similar to the kuryakyn. The fuel door started rattling with that one so I switched back to the key lock my ultra came with.

That's not good, I was thinking of trying the HD part next.

Thanks for the reply, good to know.

Get a spare key and a radio volume ****. Insert the key, measure about 1/4" above the lock, and cut the key off. You may have to trim it a bit, but mount the key in the **** with epoxy or JB Weld, let it set and harden, and stick it in the lock. Looks like a ****, works like a key. No more pulling out the keys to open it up.

I put in the Drag Specialties push button nearly four years ago, still works fine.

Have you asked Kuryakyn about this issue?

I myself have the Harley push button. Not a problem yet. The 2002 stock door spring was weak so I just replaced it with the push button.
