Amber Engine Light...
Today I am coming home from a trip to the Jersey Shore on my Ultra and of course some of the back roads are clogged with cages and I get caught up in some stop & go traffc. Its probably in the high 80's temp wise and after about 25 minutes of this crp my amber eng light comes on. I was only about 10 cars back from the traffic signal at this point so I press on. 5 minutes later I am back on open road and after a few minutes of 50mph + the amber engine light goes out.
Is this normal from sitting in a little stop & go like that? Are others experiencing the same thing or should I bring this in and have it checked out? There are people on this forum riding in much hotter temps than me so I just can't believe that this should be normal. And if it is.... that Syn3 crap is coming out tomorrow for a real synthetic.
Jeez, what would happen if ya got caught in a real traffic jam? Pull over, shut it down, and wait for the traffic to go away?
Stagnant air, high temps, high humidty and maybe you have ;owers on blocking the air flow?
Yes a known open market brand of synthetic will probably help.
But with the 07's being so lean anyway (even with the sert, pciii, etc) it'd kinda to be expected.
And yes in a bad jam shut the engine off and wait if you can't ride aaround it.
Most places won't give you too much trouble if you move to a shoulder and power walk your bike around whatever or to the nearest exit.
Done that many times myself.
Cops figure it's just one less accident waiting to happen while clearing the scene and or vehicle blocking the road.
But please notice I said power walk, not roar down shoulder 15 mph or more.
