just remember,, you just got off wore out, flattened in the middle ,old tires,,,,, anything new would feel diff.
My tires weren't wore out, only had 5K on them. I put new tires on because the Duncraps SUK! And if you would have read my above post the Metzler's are flatter acrossthan the Duncraps. Time for a new theory, NO?
The tread pattern is completely different between the tires and having had both, believe that makes the difference in the Metz not tracking grooves. The Metz *do* "ride softer" too...a nice difference also. As for the rain situations, that is exactly where the Metz beat the Dunflops hands down...they stick. I am eagerly looking forward to changing out the Duns on my '07 at the first opportunity...for Metz 880's.
BTW - I *don't care* which will get more mileage. I want *traction*.
Anyway, I don't understand exactly what people are saying about Metzelers having superior handling, and would like someone to explain it in tangible terms.
I do not know about sticky but I can tell you about tracking. My 05 RK had Dunlops. In the area I live there are literally hundreds of steel bridges, draw bridges and3 major bridge tunnels. Those Dunlops, no matter how new or how inflated always were shakey and tracked the grooves not only in the pavement but in the steel bridges. After changing to ME880s, this tracking is virtually non existent. Psychosomatic? I think not! I now have about 4K on the MEs and they are the same as when they were new. Can;'t tell ya about rain because being a RUB I don't ride in the rain...lol
